Interconnected Seasonal Voicelines

Lately, seasonal voicelines have begun to incorporate other characters. This page is a spin on voiceline translation pages where I try and piece those connected stories together for ease. Current focus characters are Keito, Kuro, Souma and Ibuki, but may expand.

Ibuki's entrance into AKATSUKI has insensitive parallels to the history between Japan and the Ryukyu Islands, specifically the annexation of Ryukyu into Okinawa from 1872-1879 onward. Click for more information

AKATSUKI is a unit embodied by 和 (wa, lit. harmony, but also a self-designator for Japan). The word 和風 (wafu, Japanese style) comes from 和. During the Meiji Restoration, 和 was central to Japan’s efforts to unify and assimilate new territories under a shared cultural identity. On top of his membership, Ibuki's active pursuit of 本当の和風 (true Japanese-style) being the reason he pursues AKATSUKI is inappropriate, bearing this in mind.

Additionally, the Ryukyu Disposition was driven by military interests, particularly securing Japan's southern borders from other nations. In Okinawan schools, national pride was linked to serving Japan’s military goals. This had devastating consequences, particularly during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II. This in mind, having Ibuki join the self-proclaimed "war unit" is also inappropriate.

Barbecue (Summer 6)

AKATSUKI had a barbecue the other day. Kanzaki got excited and it ended up being quite the lavish feast.	The other day, we went to the sea on our day off. The beachside barbecue we had was pretty damn great.
Just a few days ago, we held a "baa-be-kyuu" at the beach. I was pleased that the steak I cooked was so well-received ♪	Everyone in AKATSUKI had a barbecue the other day~! Next time we'll invite you too Neenee, so look forward to it.

Kuro and the Acorn Mystery (TBD) (Autumn 6)

There was a trail of acorns goin’ down the hall, so I followed them, but… they broke off right before the conference room.

Souma, Rinne(?) and Saigodon (TBD) (Autumn 6)

Apparently, Amagi-dono has an interest in horses. He said that he'd like to see my beloved steed Saigodon, so I intend to show him around.

Keito Recommending Music (Autumn 6)

Kanzaki has been listening to Western music, strangely enough. He seems to want to expand his range in genres, so I’ll just lend him some of my CDs.

I was listening to a song Hasumi-dono recommended to me, but I was quite surprised by how hardcore it was...!

Kuro and Souma Sparring (Autumn 6)

I’ve been training more and more to build muscle lately. Kiryu-dono has been sparring with me to help ♪

I was training with Kanzaki in a sparring match this morning. While we were going at it, it got me totally fired up.

Ibuki the Shopaholic (Autumn 6)

Honestly… I was out shopping with Taki, and he was just running around buying whatever he saw. How troublesome.	Taki bought a hamburger as a gift for me to eat, but… It’s just so large, it’s astonishing.
Ah, Neenee! I bought a tasty looking pear, so here, how about I give you one~? It’s a gift from me to you~♪

Kuro's Knitwear (Winter 6)

I knit some mittens, so I’ll give ‘em to you Lil’ Miss. Haha, I’ve been getting real into knitting these days…♪	Kiryu has really thrown himself into knitting. First, it was the mittens, then I received the scarf and knitted hat… Like always, he’s going overboard.
I received a wool-knit hair ornament from Kiryu-dono, but… I feel as if it’s a little too cute for me to wear.	I was on location on a snowy mountain for work, so Kiryu-san knit me some wool socks~♪ What a real skilled guy, huh~?
Kuro-san gave me these handknit mittens. I knew he was skilled, but I’m surprised he’s this good, you knooow.	I received this wool-knit hairtie from Kiryu-kun, but… Isn’t this something a girl would wear…?

Keito's Drama Job (Winter 6)

I know that AKATSUKI consists of several proficient martial artists, but it's going to be a problem if they want me to do an action scene for filming…!

Apparently, Hasumi’s gotta play the role of a delinquent for this one drama he’s shootin’. He asked me to show him how to throw some hands.

Hiking Job (Winter 6)

Had a job the other day, where we had to climb up a snowy mountain, but it was actually pretty damn tough… I still got a long way to go with training, huh.

I was on location on a snowy mountain for work, so Kiryu-san knitted me some wool socks~♪ What a skillful guy, huh~?

Rei and Rinne, New Besties (Winter 6)

I’ve been seeing Sakuma hanging around Amagi-senpai a lot more lately. You know, I just can’t help but feel that nothing good could come of those two together.	It is quite the nippy night out, so perhaps I should invite Amagi-kun to go get some warm food…♪
It seemed Nii-san and Rei-senpai were going out, so I said I wanted to go too, but… I got turned down.	(Yawn) I’m knackered… When Rei-chan and I went out, it actually ended up pretty damn fun. Even for a night owl, there’s no slowing that guy down.

Smelt Fishing (Winter 6)

Sazanami-san went out fishing. Drilling holes into the ice to catch them... I can't even begin to imagine what that looks like.	Sakura-kun and I are heading out fishing soon. If we bring in a big haul, we'll leave some for you to have too, 'kay~♪
	Jun-han 'n I went out pond-fishin' for smelt, y'know. It was real cold, but we managed to reel in a whole slew of 'em...♪
